"Starting a career at YAI as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) has many advantages in terms of the opportunities for career growth within our organization. This is due to the fact that a DSP works directly with and to support people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in their day-to-day life and will therefore develop a comprehensive understanding of the people who are receiving YAI's services and what our organization does to support these persons and how our services and various departments that support the DSPs can be improved.

This understanding has and will continue to lead to DSP staff moving to other positions throughout YAI's organization. . In many more cases DSPs advance in their careers by moving into clinical positions and program management positions, such as a Program Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, Behavior Intervention Specialist, Assistant Behavior Intervention Specialist, Regional Director, Deputy Director, and Social Worker. Additionally, many of our administrative (HR, IT, Program Development, and other) staff have started as DSP and have gone on to become Directors of their respective departments.

YAI believes in promoting from within and investing in our workforce. Many of YAI's staff who start as RBTs are also enrolled in a 4-year degree program in Psychology or the Human Services field. YAI offers tuition reimbursement as well as has partnerships with various schools which provide our staff with tuition discounts. "
